Our benefice includes six churches, three Mother-churches (St. Oswald, Lythe; St. Hilda, Hinderwell and Christchurch, Ugthorpe) and three daughter churches (St. Mary’s, Sandsend; St. Nicholas, Roxby and St. Peter the Fisherman, Staithes). The children of Lythe School come regularly to join services in St Owald’s church, including at Christmas (Christingle) at the beginning of Lent (Ash Wednesday) and on the feast of Ascension. Individual classes also visit the church to become familiar with its architecture and sacraments.
Our benefice is happy to welcome children to participate in, and receive, Holy Communion before Confirmation, with appropriate preparation. Please contact school, Rector or Curate if you would like your child to be prepared for Communion.
Special Services are held throughout the year.
