Pupil Premium Funding
The pupil premium grant is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England. It’s a school-level grant that gives schools extra resources to help them meet challenges, including those arising from deprivation.
It’s allocated for schools to:
- improve the academic outcomes of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities
- close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers across the country

How do we use this money wisely?
Mrs Trowsdale, Miss Lloyd, Mrs Morrison and Mrs Grason
These Teaching Assistants each belong to one class, so they know all the children really well. They take part in all the same training sessions as the teachers, and work hard alongside the teachers to ensure that children have all the help and resources in class that they need to succeed. They also all have different specialisms, for example being trained to deliver speech and language interventions, carry out Thrive assessments or support mental health, which mean that they are very skilled at delivering extra support if needed.
Giving Every Opportunity
To make sure that all children have every opportunity for social and cultural experiences as well as access to the very best learning resources, we spend money on things like providing extra-curricular activities and offering a longer school day with access to learning resources, including computers and homework support, in our Seashells after-school club.
How do we know we are doing a good job?
Our governing body works with teachers and the Headteacher to find out whether the money we have spent has made an improvement on pupil achievement. If the Governors do not think the money is doing a good job, we change things quickly.
