If you think that you would like your child to attend Lythe School we would be delighted to meet you. You are very welcome indeed to come and visit the school and meet the staff and children and see us in action, and we will be pleased to answer any questions. Please call Mrs Welford in the office on 893373 to make an appointment. North Yorkshire County Council is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled primary and secondary schools in this area, and as such has determined the admission arrangements for the 2020-21 school year. Please click here for their full admission policy and procedures, including oversubscription criteria.
The North Yorkshire Fair Access Protocol shows how children who may have difficulty securing a school place will be treated.
Nursery (Foundation Stage 1)Children may be admitted to Nursery during the term following their third birthday. Parents are invited to place their name on our waiting list, and visits are warmly welcomed. Our Nursery Admissions Policy shows the order of priority for admissions. Reception (Foundation Stage 2)All children enter Reception class in September. To apply for a place you need to complete a Common Application Form and submit this to North Yorkshire County Council, even if your child is already in Nursery at Lythe School. Please contact Mrs Welford or Miss Jackson, our EYFS Lead, if you would like support with this. There is information here and here about deferring entry to Reception.

In-Year AdmissionsWe welcome enquiries from new families at any time during your child's school career. Please contact Mrs Welford if you would like support with this. If your child has an EHCP, please contact the North Yorkshire SEN team on 01609 535002 for advice about admissions.

Your support for your child’s education is crucial to their progress. Please tell us if there are any adjustments we need to make to help you support your child, for example: letters in large font; letters in different languages; wheelchair access; explaining things over the phone; a discussion with a school colleague of the same sex.
Newsletters are published on our Facebook page and also on Dojo and Tapestry every week for school families.
